Background
Apolipoprotein A-I (ApoA1) is the primary protein constituent of HDL, defining its size and shape, solubilizing its lipid components, removing cholesterol from peripheral cells, activating the LCAT enzyme, and delivering the resulting cholesterol esters to the liver.
