Description | Megakaryocytopoiesis is the cellular development process that leads to platelet production. The protein encoded by this gene is a humoral growth factor that is necessary for megakaryocyte proliferation and maturation, as well as for thrombopoiesis. This protein is the ligand for MLP/C_MPL, the product of myeloproliferative leukemia virus oncogene. Alternate splicing results in multiple transcript variants of this gene. |
Immunogen | Purified recombinant fragment of human THPO expressed in E. Coli. |
Formulation | Purified antibody in PBS with 0.05% sodium azide |
Gene ID | 7066 |

Other Names | Thrombopoietin, C-mpl ligand, ML, Megakaryocyte colony-stimulating factor, Megakaryocyte growth and development factor, MGDF, Myeloproliferative leukemia virus oncogene ligand, THPO, MGDF |
Dilution | E~~1/10000 WB~~1/500 - 1/2000 FC~~1/200 - 1/400 |
Storage | Maintain refrigerated at 2-8°C for up to 6 months. For long term storage store at -20°C in small aliquots to prevent freeze-thaw cycles. |
Precautions | THPO Antibody is for research use only and not for use in diagnostic or therapeutic procedures. |

Synonyms | MGDF |
Function | Lineage-specific cytokine affecting the proliferation and maturation of megakaryocytes from their committed progenitor cells. It acts at a late stage of megakaryocyte development. It may be the major physiological regulator of circulating platelets. |
