| Description | This gene is located on the X chromosome and is the corresponding locus to a Y-linked gene which encodes a tetratricopeptide repeat (TPR) protein. The encoded protein of this gene contains a JmjC-domain and catalyzes the demethylation of tri/dimethylated histone H3. Multiple alternatively spliced transcript variants have been found for this gene. |
| Immunogen | Purified recombinant fragment of human KDM6A (AA: 1252-1401) expressed in E. Coli. |
| Formulation | Purified antibody in PBS with 0.05% sodium azide |
| Gene ID | 7403 |
|---|---|
| Other Names | Lysine-specific demethylase 6A, 1.14.11.-, Histone demethylase UTX, Ubiquitously-transcribed TPR protein on the X chromosome, Ubiquitously-transcribed X chromosome tetratricopeptide repeat protein, KDM6A, UTX |

| Function | Histone demethylase that specifically demethylates 'Lys-27' of histone H3, thereby playing a central role in histone code (PubMed:17713478, PubMed:17761849, PubMed:17851529). Demethylates trimethylated and dimethylated but not monomethylated H3 'Lys-27' (PubMed:17713478, PubMed:17761849, PubMed:17851529). Plays a central role in regulation of posterior development, by regulating HOX gene expression (PubMed:17851529). Demethylation of 'Lys-27' of histone H3 is concomitant with methylation of 'Lys-4' of histone H3, and regulates the recruitment of the PRC1 complex and monoubiquitination of histone H2A (PubMed:17761849). Plays a demethylase-independent role in chromatin remodeling to regulate T-box family member-dependent gene expression (By similarity). |

Foundational characteristics of cancer include proliferation, angiogenesis, migration, evasion of apoptosis, and cellular immortality. Find key markers for these cellular processes and antibodies to detect them.
The SUMOplot™ Analysis Program predicts and scores sumoylation sites in your protein. SUMOylation is a post-translational modification involved in various cellular processes, such as nuclear-cytosolic transport, transcriptional regulation, apoptosis, protein stability, response to stress, and progression through the cell cycle.
The Autophagy Receptor Motif Plotter predicts and scores autophagy receptor binding sites in your protein. Identifying proteins connected to this pathway is critical to understanding the role of autophagy in physiological as well as pathological processes such as development, differentiation, neurodegenerative diseases, stress, infection, and cancer.
