Target/Specificity | This EDC3 antibody is generated from rabbits immunized with a KLH conjugated synthetic peptide between 219-247 amino acids from the Central region of human EDC3. |
Dilution | WB~~1:1000 |
Format | Purified polyclonal antibody supplied in PBS with 0.09% (W/V) sodium azide. This antibody is purified through a protein A column, followed by peptide affinity purification. |
Storage | Maintain refrigerated at 2-8°C for up to 2 weeks. For long term storage store at -20°C in small aliquots to prevent freeze-thaw cycles. |
Precautions | EDC3 Antibody (Center) is for research use only and not for use in diagnostic or therapeutic procedures. |
Name | EDC3 |
---|---|
Synonyms | LSM16, YJDC, YJEFN2 |
Function | Binds single-stranded RNA. Involved in the process of mRNA degradation and in the positive regulation of mRNA decapping. May play a role in spermiogenesis and oogenesis. |
Cellular Location | Cytoplasm, P-body. Note=Processing bodies (PB) |
Tissue Location | Expressed in theca and granulosa cells in ovary, and in spermatids of the meiotic division part II and apical membrane of Sertoli cells in testis (at protein level). Also expressed in brain and mammary gland. |

Background
EDC3 is associated with an mRNA-decapping complex required for removal of the 5-prime cap from mRNA prior to its degradation from the 5-prime end (Fenger-Gron et al., 2005 [PubMed 16364915]).
