Background

Thorase, also known as Atad1 or ATPase family AAA domain-containing protein 1 is involved in synaptic plasticity, learning and memory through the regulation of the surface expression of AMPA receptors (AMPAR). Thorase is widely expressed with the highest expression in the brain and testis.
