Background
MKX is a member of an Iroquois (IRX) family-related classof 'three-amino acid loop extension' (TALE) atypical homeoboxproteins characterized by 3 additional amino acids in the loopregion between helix I and helix II of the homeodomain (Anderson etal., 2006 [PubMed 16408284]).
