Background

The product of this gene belongs to the family ofG-protein coupled receptors, which contains several receptorsubtypes with different pharmacological selectivity for variousadenosine and uridine nucleotides. This receptor is a P2Ypurinergic receptor for UDP-glucose and other UDP-sugars coupled toG-proteins. It has been implicated in extending the known immunesystem functions of P2Y receptors by participating in theregulation of the stem cell compartment, and it may also play arole in neuroimmune function. Two transcript variants encoding thesame protein have been identified for this gene. [provided byRefSeq].
