Other Names | Transcription elongation factor A protein 2, Testis-specific S-II, Transcription elongation factor S-II protein 2, Transcription elongation factor TFIISl, TCEA2 |
Format | Peptides are lyophilized in a solid powder format. Peptides can be reconstituted in solution using the appropriate buffer as needed. |
Storage | Maintain refrigerated at 2-8°C for up to 6 months. For long term storage store at -20°C. |
Precautions | This product is for research use only. Not for use in diagnostic or therapeutic procedures. |
Name | TCEA2 |
---|---|
Function | Necessary for efficient RNA polymerase II transcription elongation past template-encoded arresting sites. The arresting sites in DNA have the property of trapping a certain fraction of elongating RNA polymerases that pass through, resulting in locked ternary complexes. Cleavage of the nascent transcript by S-II allows the resumption of elongation from the new 3'-terminus. |
Cellular Location | Nucleus. |
Tissue Location | Testis and ovary specific. |

Background
The protein encoded by this gene is found in the nucleus, where it functions as an SII class transcription elongation factor.Elongation factors in this class are responsible for releasing RNApolymerase II ternary complexes from transcriptional arrest attemplate-encoded arresting sites. The encoded protein has beenshown to interact with general transcription factor IIB, a basaltranscription factor. Two transcript variants encoding differentisoforms have been found for this gene.
