Application & Usage | The peptide is used for blocking the antibody activity of PARD3. It usually blocks the antibody activity completely in Western blot analysis by incubating the peptide with equal volume of antibody for 30-60 minutes at 37°C. |
Other Names | Partitioning defective 3 homolog, PAR-3, PARD-3, Atypical PKC isotype-specific-interacting protein, ASIP, Ephrin-interacting protein, PHIP, Pard3, Par3 |
Target/Specificity | PARD3 |
Formulation | 50 µg (0.5 mg/ml) in phosphate buffered saline (PBS), pH 7.2, containing 50% glycerol, 1% BSA and 0.02% thimerosal. |
Reconstitution & Storage | -20 °C |

Precautions | PARD3 Blocking Peptide is for research use only and not for use in diagnostic or therapeutic procedures. |
Name | Pard3 |

Synonyms | Par3 |
Function | Adapter protein involved in asymmetrical cell division and cell polarization processes (By similarity). Seems to play a central role in the formation of epithelial tight junctions (By similarity). Targets the phosphatase PTEN to cell junctions (By similarity). Association with PARD6B may prevent the interaction of PARD3 with F11R/JAM1, thereby preventing tight junction assembly (PubMed:11839275). The PARD6-PARD3 complex links GTP-bound Rho small GTPases to atypical protein kinase C proteins (By similarity). Required for establishment of neuronal polarity and normal axon formation in cultured hippocampal neurons (By similarity). Involved in Schwann cell peripheral myelination (PubMed:21949390). |
Cellular Location | Cytoplasm. Endomembrane system. Cell junction. Cell junction, tight junction. Cell junction, adherens junction. Cytoplasm, cell cortex. Cytoplasm, cytoskeleton. Cell membrane. Note=Localized along the cell-cell contact region. Colocalizes with PARD6A and PRKCI at epithelial tight junctions. Colocalizes with the cortical actin that overlays the meiotic spindle during metaphase I and metaphase II Presence of KRIT1, CDH5 and RAP1B is required for its localization to the cell junction (By similarity). Colocalized with SIRT2 in internode region of myelin sheath. |
Tissue Location | All isoforms are expressed in heart, while expression in brain is mainly limited to isoform 1, and to isoform 3 to a weaker level |
