Application & Usage | The peptide is used for blocking the antibody activity of Bcl-xL. It usually blocks the antibody activity completely in Western blot analysis by incubating the peptide with equal volume of antibody for 30-60 minutes at 37°C. |
Target/Specificity | Bcl-xL |
Formulation | 50 µg (0.5 mg/ml) in phosphate buffered saline (PBS), pH 7.2, containing 0.1% BSA and 0.02% thimerosal. |
Reconstitution & Storage | -20 °C |

Precautions | Bcl-xL Blocking Peptide is for research use only and not for use in diagnostic or therapeutic procedures. |
Name | Bcl2l1 |
---|---|
Synonyms | Bcl2l, Bclx |
Function | Potent inhibitor of cell death. Inhibits activation of caspases. Appears to regulate cell death by blocking the voltage- dependent anion channel (VDAC) by binding to it and preventing the release of the caspase activator, CYC1, from the mitochondrial membrane. Also acts as a regulator of G2 checkpoint and progression to cytokinesis during mitosis. |
Cellular Location | Mitochondrion membrane; Single-pass membrane protein. Nucleus membrane; Single- pass membrane protein; Cytoplasmic side Cytoplasm, cytoskeleton, microtubule organizing center, centrosome. Note=Localizes to the centrosome when phosphorylated at Ser-49 [Isoform Bcl-X(delta-TM)]: Cytoplasm. |
Tissue Location | Widely expressed, with highest levels in the brain, thymus, bone marrow, and kidney. Bcl-X(L) and Bcl-X(delta-TM) expression is enhanced in B- and T-lymphocytes that have been activated. |
