Other Names | Scavenger receptor class F member 2, SRECRP-1, Scavenger receptor expressed by endothelial cells 2 protein, SREC-II, SCARF2, SREC2, SREPCR |
Target/Specificity | This SCARF2 antibody is generated from rabbits immunized with a KLH conjugated synthetic peptide between 826-854 amino acids from the C-terminal region of human SCARF2. |
Dilution | WB~~1:1000 FC~~1:10~50 |
Format | Purified polyclonal antibody supplied in PBS with 0.09% (W/V) sodium azide. This antibody is purified through a protein A column, followed by peptide affinity purification. |
Storage | Maintain refrigerated at 2-8°C for up to 2 weeks. For long term storage store at -20°C in small aliquots to prevent freeze-thaw cycles. |
Precautions | SCARF2 Antibody (C-term) is for research use only and not for use in diagnostic or therapeutic procedures. |
Name | SCARF2 |
---|---|
Synonyms | SREC2, SREPCR |
Function | Probable adhesion protein, which mediates homophilic and heterophilic interactions. In contrast to SCARF1, it poorly mediates the binding and degradation of acetylated low density lipoprotein (Ac- LDL) (By similarity). |
Cellular Location | Membrane; Single-pass type I membrane protein |
Tissue Location | Predominantly expressed in endothelial cells. Expressed in heart, placenta, lung, kidney, spleen, small intestine and ovary. |

Background
The protein encoded by this gene is similar to SCARF1/SREC-I, a scavenger receptor protein that mediates the binding and degradation of acetylated low density lipoprotein (Ac-LDL). This protein has only little activity of internalizing modified low density lipoproteins (LDL), but it can interact with SCARF1 through its extracellular domain. The association of this protein with SCARF1 is suppressed by the presence of scavenger ligands. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding distinct isoforms have been reported.
