Other Names | Cyclic nucleotide-gated olfactory channel, Cyclic nucleotide-gated cation channel 2, Cyclic nucleotide-gated channel alpha-2, CNG channel alpha-2, CNG-2, CNG2, CNGA2, CNCA, CNCA1, CNCG2 |
Format | Peptides are lyophilized in a solid powder format. Peptides can be reconstituted in solution using the appropriate buffer as needed. |
Storage | Maintain refrigerated at 2-8°C for up to 6 months. For long term storage store at -20°C. |
Precautions | This product is for research use only. Not for use in diagnostic or therapeutic procedures. |
Name | CNGA2 |
---|---|
Synonyms | CNCA, CNCA1, CNCG2 |
Function | Odorant signal transduction is probably mediated by a G- protein coupled cascade using cAMP as second messenger. The olfactory channel can be shown to be activated by cyclic nucleotides which leads to a depolarization of olfactory sensory neurons. |
Cellular Location | Membrane; Multi-pass membrane protein. |

Background
The protein encoded by this gene represents the alphasubunit of a cyclic nucleotide-gated olfactory channel. The encodedprotein contains a carboxy-terminal leucine zipper that mediateschannel formation.
